just had the urge to google mama's boys after many long years. i went to your gigs and i cant remember how to be honest, but tommy and i became friends. we wrote to/phoned each other for years when i was at school. i beaked off once and got the train to dublin where we met up. i loved him, he was a special person, and though he talked to me about his leukemia, i didnt realise how ill he was and it was a terrible shock when his letters stopped and i heard he had died. glad you are continuing with music, you are a very talented family. best wishes, rachel x x |

What a wonderfull trip down memory lane ! A smashing great surprise to see you in Strasbourg after 20 years ! It was the first time I heard some of the Mamas boys wihout Tommy! A bit sad and strange at the beginning but Paul is great ! THANK YOU EVER SO MUCH- I will be back in October in Amnéville- Will take my kids, they've grown up on the Mamas Boys music and story , then with Celtus and now you again!( and they like the Scorpions too...)Anyway thanks, great show, great music, great guy ! don't change anything! The Pat McManus Band (Ireland), delivered one of the most professional and convincing evenings of guitar led, original Hard Rock/Heavy Blues that it has been my privilege to witness ever. Lovers of 1970's/1980's hard rockers such as Micheal Schenker, Gary Moore and Pat Travers would have loved this gig!! Pat threw in a spellbinding acoustic reading of Rory Gallagher's "Return Of The G Man", to boot. Hi Pat, really enjoyed the gig in the Poc Fada, Monaghan on Sunday night. It was our first time there and we had a great evening. Loved the set with the wee fiddle player - he looked about 12!!! Hoping to catch both your gigs in Warrenpoint (maybe even the live radio broadcast!) at the Blues on the Bay Fest at the end of the month. Hi Pat, well, I just rediscovered Mamas Boys last year thanks to Youtube- Plug it In and Turn it Up played I think by my young nephews. The younger one, Ian, sent me a handwritten letter when he was 12 sent all the way to Tokyo in 1998 asking Uncle Paul if he could "borrow" my bass. His band, These Monsters, has just released it's first album. I know he will have played Mamas Boys and all the other stuff I left behind in 1992 to make a new life. So last year, I was tired and depressed but something sparked up from my deep memory...."Straight forward, no looking back! Straight forward, that's where the action is!" OMG, it all came flooding back across what is it now almost 30 years! I can still remember watching the three of you at the Marquee, what was it, three times. The atmosphere was just so wonderful- you made us feel like family and the smiles. It was GREAT, thank you!

Hi - I was Mamas boys biggest fan in the 80s after seeing them supporting Lizzy in Bradford. Its only recently that i found out Pat McManus had his own bands and regularly toured. I bought the live album and went to see the band in Harrogate on 11th December - absolutely brilliant despite a poor venue, brought back loads of memories of fantastic guitar playing and i love the new songs. Thank you for a fantastic night at Bosworth on saturday and allowing me and my friend to attend.
As i said to you both, I have never seen any artist look like they enjoy performing as much as Pat does. His interaction with the crowd is superb.
I was watching the DVD I picked up last night until 3.00am this morning but believe me it was well worth it.
Please thank the band and well as those who made it possible for the gig to take place.

Hi there.
I don't know if you remember me from the Market Bosworth gig with Bernie Marsden last year when you were kind in allow me to attend your special evening.I came from West Bromwich. I said that I would try and get over to Ireland and see you and keep in touch. Unfortunately, the last year had not been a happy one healthwise for me anda lot of dreams and plans didn't materialise for which I apologise. I really would love to meet up and say hello again at Market Bosworth on the saturday if at all possible and then book a trip to Ireland next year and come and see you over there. Best Wishes to you both and the band.

I'm sitting here at my PC with one of my most treasured Mamas Boys CD Albums "The Collection" blasting out of the speakers.
Back in the 80s within the N.W.O.B.H.M era,Mamas Boys were my absolute favorite Rock band and i still fondly remember buying the "Plug it In" Album on what at that time seemed to be a very heavily weighted vinyl almost like a slab of slate that inserted inside the thickest cardboard Album cover ever made, and i will never forget bribing my local Record shop dealer into grabbing me the awesome "Turn It Up" Album with the greatest ever limited edition package known to mankind, and if memory serves me right the package contained a fantastic free Mamas Boys T-Shirt which was attached over the Album cover and also including an extra free Album, which was like a double Album and a T-Shirt for less than £4...."oh happy days".
The Mamas Boys recorded some of the finest Hard Rock Anthems ever produced that still sound as brilliant & refreshing today as they did way back then.
I will never ever forget the hurt and pain felt inside on that bleakest of days back in November 1994 when the sad news came through that Brave Brother Tommy had sadly passed away, and i know that you will fully understand that I as a MB fanatic knew in my heart that from that sad day forth Mamas Boys would never sound quite the same again without Tommy pounding the skins and John on Lead vocals, which is also something i could never get my head around or understand, why was Keith Murrell drafted into the band to take over the lead vocals from John who rubber stamped his own brilliant singing style onto so many of the trademarked Mamas Boys songs & Anthems?.
As i sit here reminiscing over those wonderful days and Listening to such fabulous Classics as Crazy Daisy's, Hard n'Loud, Lettin' Go, Power & Passion and Don't tell Mama to name just five, so many wonderful Mamas Boys memories come flooding back and at this point i would sincerely like to thank Pat, John and Tommy for the great amount of pleasure you not only brought into my life but also into my household all those years ago.

I guess there isn't a chance that there would be a concert anywhere from July 31-August 8th tossed in around Berlin, Dresden or Prague. I will be overseas in those areas then. Saw Pat and the band in Waterford Friday 13th. An almost overwhelming display of musical genius and talent. One of the true greats. Then Bernie Marsden got up! I nearly passed out! Two idols in one night. Keep it up Pat, you're one in a million. Fair dues to the band too, they do you proud. |

Just wondering if Pat remembers the gigs he played in Ireland in November 1987 with mamas boys.
I played in the support band in Cork, Dublin and Belfast.
The venue in Cork was Sir Henry's, which I found out last week whilst working in Cork, has
been demolished.
I reckon Pat know's the drummer of the support band back then very well. |

YY, you're 100% correct, the American version of "Mamas Boys" does indeed contain "If The Kids Are United" that one slipped my mind.
I didn't however know about the cassette version of "Power And Passion."
I do have both the Japanesse vinyl versions of "Mamas Boys" and "Power And Passion" however I've never been able to find them on CD.
If you ever come across them, buy them for me and I'll send you over the money.
