Just want to say how much i am enjoying the song, Cant go it alone, that Pat penned for Wishbone Ash.
It adds an irish twist to the wishbone sound which is refreshing. To be honest I hadn't come across Pat's music before however through Wishbone Ash i have been introduced to a wonderful musician! |

You gave one hell of a show in the Weegbrug Roermond. I did speak priefly with you after the gig saying I'd never heard about you, but never will forge. As I told you I'm a mediate guitarist myself.

Brilliant gig last Sun night in Athenry. Great to see you in action again after all these years. You've still got what it takes to rock it out with the best of them. We were at your concert in Pagney Chez Paulette on April the 1st and it was a real delight, fun...we sang (oups!), we had fun. Your music is so amazing and festive. We loved your last album and the tributes paid to Rory Gallagher and Gary Moore. Attend one of your concerts, listening to your music are among those things that make us think that life is beautiful. I saw you with mama's boys two times in bordeaux in France and one time in folkstone in UK in a theater.
The gigs were great and you were all so sympatic with your fans.
The first concert began whith darkness , a light trough an eyes.It was after scorpions first part tour.
In folkstone it was a very nice gig with a new singer in a theater near the sea.
The last gig I saw you was during relativity tour.Lots of energy and your pleasure to play guitar.
Me and my wife spoke to you and tommy.
I'm very happy to kow you're back.I hope to see a new live gig in bordeaux to show to my two boys (10 et 13 years old) who's the professor.They love hard rock and one of the both begin to play guitar.Me and my wife will be happy to get your smiling energy one more time.I hope my english is not to bad.

Hi Pat ,way back in the early 1980 i played in a rock band and we played support to mamas boys in the Crofton and the Baggot...what fun we had,,it was jaw dropping to see you guys in fully flight at the very start of mamas boys...world class...very sorry to hear about wee tommies passing....i was a drummer back then and to see tommy go flat out was something that has always stayed with me.I have a 16 year old son now who has been drumming since he was very young and i would love for him to meet with you and if possible have a quick jam....i am going to bring to your swords and rush gigs in february so mamas boys are going on to live on in the next generation...he has tommys boyish looks.... i remember watching tommy and been blown away by the power and stamina that he had when he was only 13 0r 14 years old...many thanks for your time..see you in rush..john 0862519453 |

Wonderfull that we were able to meet. First time as we saw Mama's Boys was in Brussels National Forest in 1984 when you were at the same gig as The Scorpions were.
It really did us a great pleasure to see you again.
By the way..... do not forget the idea about "the sharp dressed man" when you perfom in Ireland during 2011.

So I was walking by Fred Zeppelins in Cork last night and I heard some serious rocking coming from upstairs. I was on my way to the car, all set to drive home, but I couldn't help but wander in and check out the band playing.
Turns out it was Pat McManus, a guy I'd never heard of (You'll have to forgive me that, Pat, I'm not the most musician-savvy). My god but he rocked! An inspirational and brilliant performance, the best live gig I've seen in a long while. I'm officially a fan Pat, can't wait to see you again.

Gerry & Paul are an awesome rhythym section for shure-tight as a gnatts chuff pipe.

just wanted to say hi. I left Ireland when i was 28 and now live in Australia. Saw Mamas Boys many times. Funnily enough, now play in a band called painkiller. Ha ha. I just wanted to remind Pat, that although life has moved on alot for us all, please never underestimate the influence and joy, mamas boys had on a whole generation of young rockers. Dear Pat. I'm in awe of your skill and enthusiasm. I remember hearing ' needle in the groove ' on the radio in the early 80's. It may well have been the friday rock show ... i'm not sure. Hi Pat, I loved Mama's Boys! My first gig was Knebworth '85 (I was 15) but I missed the bloody train and your set - I was gutted! I still have the set as broadcast on The Friday Rock Show on cassette to this day - been playing it a lot lately and thought I'd look you up! Eventually got to see the 'Boys at Peterborough in about 1989 - great set with a (then) new lineup. Great also to have seen you playing with John and Tommy - he was a fabulous talent. Listening to the Knebworth tapes today, I realised that we have lost 2 drummers who I admire very much and who were on that bill - Jackson 'Thunderfoot' Spires from Blackfoot and, of course, Tommy. They have both influenced my own playing greatly. I used to be in a band that covered 'Needle In The Groove' and it was an honour to play Tommy's drum parts in that song. Always admired your own melodic approach to guitar playing - I also play guitar and prefer your more lyrical, emotive style to that of the speed merchants (although I know you can 'Turn It Up' when you want to!). Hey Pat, A couple of friends and myself used to have a band called Jinx. We supported mama's boys in Sir Henry's in Cork City more than a few years ago. I have very good memories of that night, like sitting around the old open fire with John and Tommy.
We we're slightly awestruck but Tommy was an absolute gentleman and was more than happy to sit and chat with us for a good while even though I'm sure he had other things to be doing. We used to do "needle in the groove" and "runaway dreams" but dropped them from the set for that gig for obvious reasons. Looking forward to seeing you again in the Cruiscin. The very best of luck. |

just had the urge to google mama's boys after many long years. i went to your gigs and i cant remember how to be honest, but tommy and i became friends. we wrote to/phoned each other for years when i was at school. i beaked off once and got the train to dublin where we met up. i loved him, he was a special person, and though he talked to me about his leukemia, i didnt realise how ill he was and it was a terrible shock when his letters stopped and i heard he had died. glad you are continuing with music, you are a very talented family. best wishes, rachel x x |

What a wonderfull trip down memory lane ! A smashing great surprise to see you in Strasbourg after 20 years ! It was the first time I heard some of the Mamas boys wihout Tommy! A bit sad and strange at the beginning but Paul is great ! THANK YOU EVER SO MUCH- I will be back in October in Amnéville- Will take my kids, they've grown up on the Mamas Boys music and story , then with Celtus and now you again!( and they like the Scorpions too...)Anyway thanks, great show, great music, great guy ! don't change anything! The Pat McManus Band (Ireland), delivered one of the most professional and convincing evenings of guitar led, original Hard Rock/Heavy Blues that it has been my privilege to witness ever. Lovers of 1970's/1980's hard rockers such as Micheal Schenker, Gary Moore and Pat Travers would have loved this gig!! Pat threw in a spellbinding acoustic reading of Rory Gallagher's "Return Of The G Man", to boot. Hi Pat, really enjoyed the gig in the Poc Fada, Monaghan on Sunday night. It was our first time there and we had a great evening. Loved the set with the wee fiddle player - he looked about 12!!! Hi Pat, well, I just rediscovered Mamas Boys last year thanks to Youtube- Plug it In and Turn it Up played I think by my young nephews. The younger one, Ian, sent me a handwritten letter when he was 12 sent all the way to Tokyo in 1998 asking Uncle Paul if he could "borrow" my bass. His band, These Monsters, has just released it's first album. I know he will have played Mamas Boys and all the other stuff I left behind in 1992 to make a new life. So last year, I was tired and depressed but something sparked up from my deep memory...."Straight forward, no looking back! Straight forward, that's where the action is!" OMG, it all came flooding back across what is it now almost 30 years! I can still remember watching the three of you at the Marquee, what was it, three times. The atmosphere was just so wonderful- you made us feel like family and the smiles. It was GREAT, thank you!

Hi - I was Mamas boys biggest fan in the 80s after seeing them supporting Lizzy in Bradford. Its only recently that i found out Pat McManus had his own bands and regularly toured. I bought the live album and went to see the band in Harrogate on 11th December - absolutely brilliant despite a poor venue, brought back loads of memories of fantastic guitar playing and i love the new songs. Thank you for a fantastic night at Bosworth on saturday and allowing me and my friend to attend.
As i said to you both, I have never seen any artist look like they enjoy performing as much as Pat does. His interaction with the crowd is superb.
I was watching the DVD I picked up last night until 3.00am this morning but believe me it was well worth it.
Please thank the band and well as those who made it possible for the gig to take place.

Hi there.
I don't know if you remember me from the Market Bosworth gig with Bernie Marsden last year when you were kind in allow me to attend your special evening.I came from West Bromwich. I said that I would try and get over to Ireland and see you and keep in touch. Unfortunately, the last year had not been a happy one healthwise for me anda lot of dreams and plans didn't materialise for which I apologise. I really would love to meet up and say hello again at Market Bosworth on the saturday if at all possible and then book a trip to Ireland next year and come and see you over there. Best Wishes to you both and the band.

Hi guys ! Hi Pat !
Thanks so much for this great gig yesterday at the Spirit of 66 ! I really had a good time during and after the show and thanks for your kindness !! Thanks for playing Needle in the Groove, Black Rose (hi Phil !) and also Free Bird (very emotional) !! Keep on having that smile on your face Pat !! You guys rock !!! I enjoyed the evening so much !!! Take care and see you next time on the road (haha i love the pix I took from you in front of your van before leaving, where can i send it ??!
